HONDA RUBICON
#1
I JUST SO SOLD MY 450ES HONDA SO THAT I MIGHT GET A RUBICON. WELL HERE IN UTAH THEY HAVE WAITING LISTS CLEAR INTO AUGUST SO I HAD MY BROTHER IN OREGON CHECKING HIS LOCAL DEALER IN BEND,OR.
THEY TOLD HIM THEY JUST GOT A RECALL NOTICE TODAY FROM HONDA FOR THE RUBICON IN ORDER TO CHECK FOR FAULTY WELDS, SO THEY COULDNT SELL THE MACHINE THEY HAD IN THEIR POSSESSION, BY THE WAY THEY WERE $7000 OUT THE DOOR.
THAT ISNT A REAL GOOD TRACK RECORD FOR HONDA LATELY.
450ES RECALL FOR BATTERY DRAIN PROBLEM
RANCHER RECALL FOR FAULTY WELDS
RUBICON RECALL FOR FAULTY WELDS
KIND OF SCARY FROM SOMEONE LIKE HONDA.

I guess you did miss the point of the Original post, what does Polaris having ever issued a recall have to do with this post ? Maybe you missed the fact that I just sold a 450ES and was planning on buying a another Honda. The point I was making was that maybe Honda nor anyother manufacturer is perfect making ATV's. I have owned 3 Polaris Sportsman 500's and 2 Honda 450es.
I like both brands for different reasons, I am saying that with all of the hype on the Rubicon and the trouble that Honda had with the Rancher that they wouldnt let the same thing happen to the so called King of ATV's. And yes I am glad they took the initiative to fix it before something happened, I cant understand why no one realized they had a problem with the machines before any of them went to the dealers/customers ?

Being in manufacturing myself, I can relate.
Honda has probably been testing many a Rubicon. These were prototype machines that were probably assembled by some of Hondas best. Its a whole different ballgame once they get into production. Deadlines and pressure from management are often big factors in production mishaps. It happens to every company. Heck, we don't even know if it was just a couple of machines or all.
Do we even know for sure if there is a recall? Or are we just going off of hear say?
I really don't see what the big deal is anyway.

Just think how much crap we Polaris riders would hear if it was a 2000 SP500 being recalled. I think Sportsman500 was just pointing out a fact. No ridicule, just observation.

If its a BIG deal then don't purchase the Rubicon. Wait a few months & see if any other problems come up.
There is not a manufacturer, atv or otherwise that hasn't had a recall.
If its a defective weld, was this done by human or robot? Usually these are done by robot & there was some kind of calibration or programming error that caused it.
The point is Honda recalled them instead of letting the problem go!

Lets look at this another way.
Lets take Polaris top 3 machines, which arguably would be
Sportsman 500
Magnum 500
Scrambler 400/500
all of these machines had to be recalled upon introduction. Is this not the very thing that Polaris gets hammered on time after time ?
What we are seeing from Honda is now that they are developing new machines they are just as likely as the next guy to have problems. I think they just had all the bugs worked out of the 300s since they never changed for so many years.
Im just like everyone else as far as respect for Hondas engineering, They are probably the best out there, but they do have problems just like everyone else, I would hate to see someone buy a Honda and think they are never going to have a problem.
Im not soured on the Rubicon at all, I think it is one bad ATV and I do plan to own one.
