TO HELMET, OR NOT TO HELMET THAT IS THE QUESTION
#64
I look at it like this ... Its like insurance, if your careful and lucky you may never need it but the one time you do you'll thank God you got it.
I wear a helmet all the time my wife was worried so I didn't mind I just went and bought a really nice one that looks good. Ha Ha!
I vote for the Helmet

I always wear my helment.
I might take it off to give it to someone else, if they are ridding with me, and we have one helment. Like if some girl is ridding with me, or my sister, or my little brother, I give them the helment, so if I wreck they don't get hurt. I DO! And I don't put it on to move it out if the garage.

I use to not wear a helmit very much but I was just tooling around the farm and mudding a little. but i'm starting to ride a lot harder now so I always wear a helmit. it's not worth smacking my head and becoming a veggie for the rest of my life.

One word come's to mind when I see those that dont ride with helmet-STUPID!
As an ATV Safety Instructor and Director of my own ATV Safety related association,I preach out the aspect of wearing an approved crash helmet and protective eyewear. For those of you that say its YOUR life, that YOUR decission only affects YOU,that YOU should be able to make the choice???If you become injured seriously because you failed to wear something a SIMPLE as a helmet to protect yourself from a head injury,do you still think that these injuries only affect YOU?
It affects EVERY SINGLE PERSON who is involved in your life.Including, but not limited to your Wife/Kids/Parents/Friends.You'll be nothing more than a burden to them, possible for the rest of your life. All over a Helmet.
Please wear your helmet!

"TO HELMET, OR NOT TO HELMET THAT IS THE QUESTION"
Dude, that's not a question.
No flame intended, but that's a question of your mental stability...
Take it from someone who's been there, PUT A LID ON IT!
Peace

I disagree - like I have said, I know that stats and regulations for the State of Oregon. Other states, I do not know.
For the other readers, I suggest you ask the local law enforcement for a copy of the accident report in your riding area. In Oregon, no such stats are kept for riders having an accident that do not wear a helmet for off-road riding. There are a number of things that are recorded, such as alcohol levels if drinking and riding are suspected. But not the wearing or lack of helmets . The next time I am on dune patrol, I'll be happy grab one of those accident reports and fax one to you.

Please read the post before mine from Bill (MUDDY4LIFE). He's an ATV safety instructor. Take a wild guess what he recommends!!! He also makes a beautiful point (GREAT POINT BILL!!!) about how YOUR decision to NOT wear a helmet directly affects YOUR family and friends. When you're a vegetable, sitting in a wheelchair, and you're waiting for someone to come over and change your soiled diaper, you'll know at that moment that it's too late to put on your helmet and that all of those people "who told you so" were correct in their assessment. Well, unfortunately, you probably still won't realize it under those circumstances...
Can you see the irony here?
Wear your lid, man!
