TO HELMET, OR NOT TO HELMET THAT IS THE QUESTION

Yes helmets are good along with eye protection. I was out riding bikes with a buddy. Were heading up this trail. There is a branch about 2 inches stickiking out half way into the trail. It was broken off & I really didn't think much of it. I'm following my buddy. I see him catch a rut that sends him straight at it. I see his head snap back & him fall off his bike. I'm trying to keep from laughing cause it was funny as hell. I stop & get off to help him up before I do start laughing. He turn around & I see blood coming out his full face helmet. I cannot see the damage done to his right eye because of the blood. We of course were miles from my rig & any hospital. I give him my shirt & tell him to sit right there. I got my 90' toyota 4x4 up to him on those trails. Along with quite a few scratches. We then flew into town to a hospital. Amazingly his eye was fine & 13 stiches later all was well. He had on a pair of Oakleys that probably saved his eye. Kinda of a fluke of an accident but you never know when they will happen. So yes helmet goooooooooooooooood

If you're riding like I do then it's pretty dumb to wear a helmet, that's like saying someone needs to wear a helmet when they're walking to their mailbox. There's common sense then they're crazy overkill.
If you're trail riding then by all means wear a helmet. Putting around at 5mph while hunting or pulling a utility trailer around your place then it's overkill.

He wasn't quite walking to the mailbox to get his mail, but he wasn't going fast either.
What do you think about wearing a helmet now?
How about this, have you ever considered going slowly down a trail and have somebody who didn't see you slam into you? Sometimes it's not you that's creating the circumstance, but someone completely different.
My rule of thumb is: When you're on an ATV, always wear your helmet!
When the government starts to get involved in our sport and they start to tell us where we can and can't ride, how old we have to be in order to ride, what kind of licensing we'll need to own an ATV and so on, they'll do it based upon a law that they've passed by using statistics gathered from accidents and such. Don't give them any more ammunition to use against us. WEAR YOUR HELMET!!!

Always wear a helmet.
Just think, you might have not been around to ask such a question on this forum if it hadnt been for one in the past.
Helmet's allow you to take them of at the end of a good ride and talk about it afterward.
Remember when you would trip as a kid and bust your mouth on the ground? Just imagine the same thing at 40mph.
you couldnt stop from kissing the ground then what makes you think you can now.

I wear one 97% of the time, ever since i was doing some moderate trail riding and flipped the quad completly over- forwards, landing on my head, luckily I was wearing a helmet so the only injuries suffered was a bent steering stem on my EX.

This issue isn’t as black and white as some might think. In my opinion, it’s my body, my choice. I am hard of hearing, and when I wear a helmet and am deaf. I can’t tell you how many accidents I have avoided by other quads crossing my path by not wearing a helmet! I hear them, and I avoid them – like many of can when you wear a helmet. However, I do wear it when I dune drag or ride at high speeds in open terrain where there is no traffic. I believe you need to be an adult to understand and weigh the risks for that kind of choice - if you aren't an adult, then a helmet should be mandatory until you are. I cant begin to tell you how many people have lectured me on this subject and even blame guys like me that don’t wear a helmet, on the closure of areas to ride. I'll say it again, if the law allows for me to choose, it’s my choice. Guys that lecture me like that really show their ignorance and have no idea what they are talking about.
