Default 250R Jetting Questions

Okay, I just bought a 38mm a/s carb for my 86. I just recently purchased the bike and have only ridden it a couple of times. It always seemed to run good, but was a little slow, compared to piped Z400s, but never ran hot. I pulled off the old carb, and it was an original 34mm with a 140 main and a 40 pilot. These seem really small for the setup (FMF pipe/silencer, no airbox lid, Uni-filter, V-Force reeds, etc). Everyone I told this to was surprised I hadn't burned up the cylinder! After checking, the factory jets should have been a 48 and a 150, I don't know what the guy before me was thinking! That being said, what should I expect from the new carb? Also what jets should I start with? I have the setup above and am at around 650-850 ft of elevation.

Thanks,

Nic

You should start with at least a 185 with that setup and do your plug chops to see where you are at. I run a 200 main with a 38MM airstryker on an ESR310 motor also here in Oklahoma.
