X-Ring chain broke twice so far since i got it.

i just bought a 1986 Honda 250R with a 310 baldwin engine in November off of a guy that races XC. it had a x ring chain on it when i got it and it broke a couple of days later. i fixed the chain and it broke again yesterday. this is a brand-new Regina X-ringed chain and it broke twice already. does my 250R have too much power or is Regina a bad company to get chains from. Now i have to go get it fixed again for the 2nd time.

I don't like Regina. I have not had one break, but had several and they stretch almost every ride. I like EK ok for wear and stretch, but I got a cheaper one and it does get rusty. I just put a DID X-Ring on my Scrambler. It's a little too early to tell, but I have heard only good things about DID.

What chain slack are you running? There is absolutly no reason why you should have broke two chains in a row. You probably have it misaligned, or have WAY too little chain slack. Just my .02, but thats what it sounds like to me.

I put the Sidewinder Ti-moly setup on my TRX, I have ridden about 30hrs without an adjustment. The Krause
chain is real beefy and smooth, sofar no stretch. I think its worth the cash, extra insurance never hurts!

Alright guys a dumb question coming from a person with no experience with chains or sprockets. Which is better a O Ring or X Ring, I ride a lot of ditches, gravel pit, i don't race yet that is, I want it to be long lasting and durable. Just something durable, and doesn't need adjusting often. I'll spend the extra buck to get quality and craftsmanship, What do you guys think of Sunstar Sprockets and DID Chains?

well man x-ring should be better cause of better strength for the most part. it will cost more for a x-ring chain and from this post i made i would recommend DO NOT get a chain from Regina just my opinion cause it's what my R had on it when i bought it. Next time i think i will go with DID or maybe RK or EK i dunno yet though. Sunstar is a really good company too.
