400ex cam or piston

i want to get more top end what would give me better top end a cam or a high compression piston. i dont have enough for both right now so i wanna get one right now. also what kind of piston or cam should i get also i wanna keep the stock bore.

Well you could do cams, which I would choose if you are only going to do one. Then I would go with White Brothers or Hotcams. Both are excellent choices. But, if you are going to do the piston at some point, I would choose the whole White Brothers kit, expecially if you are maintaining the stock bore size. If it were up to me, I would tell you to save a few extra bucks, and do the cams and piston all at the same time. Good luck.

I have a WhiteBrothers cam and a JE high compression piston. I'am not sure how well it works yet it's in the shop getting all the goodies installed. Most cams call for a high compression piston and chromoly valve springs or a stronger than stock valve spring kit. I recommend the R/D Chromoly valve springs they are tight wound and really do your cam justice. Save your money and get all the work done at once you will be better off. Oh and if you want actual compression run a JE piston. I too am running the stock bore and running a 10.5:1 JE piston thats the biggest you can run on a stock bore unless you do some head work. thanks i think i am going to do it all at the same time. tell me how it come out when u get ur engine back. also can anyone give me any tips on jettin. i live at a lil over 3000ft.
