Default 72mph 250x??

I have a 1991 trx250x with a big gun exhaust pipe and jetting. My brother in law has a yamaha warrior with the same mods. The warrior is the same motor as the wolverine only auto clutch. When we race we run side by side. there is no real winner and i weigh almost 50 lbs more then him. So I dont think I would not put money on it I think the 250x would take your wolverine.

Default 72mph 250x??

I had a piped and jetted 250X, running 22-11-9 strykers on the rear (slightly larger than the stock ohtsus) - it ran 60-61 (cannot be any more precise than that) flat, in 5th, up against the rev limiter.

the 300ex I have now is bone stock, same rear tires and is 10lbs heavier - due to the rev limiter being 400rpm less, it is about 2mph less, however with the valve springs being lighter, valve adjustment is critical, .001 off and you feel it in 5th.

In a drag, the 250x will lose to a 300ex, BUT, if the drag goes on long enuf, the 250x will eventually pass it. stock vs stock, a lot of quads will pass the hondas, incl the warrior, in 6th the warrior is untouchable, however the hondas forte is its handling. I have beaten much lighter kids riding much faster quads in sanctioned XC races simply because I know the limits of the honda and use them - not to mention the honda jumps perfectly.

In the era that the 'X's from honda are from, the competition was the mojave, warrior and QS250, the warrior and mojave were both faster top end than the honda but would consistently lose any race with a turn in it (the warrior is a front heavy pig that should have 4wd added to it and a plow and stay that way)

in todays world, expect to have your helmet removed by a dozen different quads, incl some that are considered 'utility' in and type of flat open straight race.

There is a guy in PA named mickey dunlap that has a 330cc bore kit for the 300ex - its as large as you can go on the stock rod before stuff breaks (but the engine is unbalanced) - with a proper pipe INCLUDING the spark arrestor (I recommend cobra RCM with 8-9 discs) and a proper jet (135-140: I ran a 138) the 300ex will get to its rev limiter as fast as anything under 400ccs and 4 stroke. You cannot swap out the rev limiters btw - the 250X uses AC input, the 300ex uses DC.

just remember tho, in the world of racing, inches IS everything. 250x, 300exs will never beat a raptor

theres just alittle bit of ADD begging to get of you in there, what does a raptor have to do with this? shall we bring in all the other quads too?

try to pay attn to the discussion. A 'raptor' is considered one of the if not the fastest 4 strokes. It does not take many posts before someone tells us how their type 2 can beat one with the addition of 30lbs of nerf and such and a power flo filter. Based on some of the claimed top ends it appears that quads are merely stepping stones to 'ricers'. There is a reason sanctioned races are split into classes - high speed blasts down the neighborhood streets dont get any mention (if at all) in the mags

It doesnt matter, the last sentence of my post is no different than saying 'no matter what you do a cavalier will never be faster than a vette' and is on topic since the thread does seem to be about people wanting to compete out of 'class'.
