Air scoops for a 400ex what do they do???

Are they put on to push more air to the oil res. to keep it cool or are they just decorative??Are they worth buying because the 400 does run hot. Thanks

They are mostly for looks, cooling effect would be minimal. Do you have overheating problems? Its very rare for a 400EX to overheat. They can get heat soaked and lose some power but don't usually overheat.
