Default Rear Brake Light Problem

I just bought a 2000 recon. I'm not sure if the brake light is suppose to come on when you press the brakes. The light does work when the head lights are turned on. But with the head lights on when you hold the handle the light doesn't get brighter. Is that how it's suppose to work or is one of the filaments in the bulb burned out? on my rancher at when I hit the brakes the rear lights come on. So thats all that I have to go off of. Thanks for any info.

Your Recon does not have a brake light. Only a tail light. I installed some on my Recon. Here is a link to some pics I took.(you will have to register (free) to see the pics) the Honda part numbers for the switches are included in the pictures. Hope this helps.

Do you know if the 2002 rancher 4x4 is the same way?
