Default Miles per tank?

my '87 honda 250 fourtrax only gets about 30 miles per tank, give or take a couple of miles. but usually about the 30-32 mile mark i have to switch over to reserve, the same goes for one of my riding buddies who has the same kind of fourwheeler. does this sound about right? i figured the little 250 would get better gas mileage than that.

lol, i've had the fourwheeler for about 3 years and i'm just now starting to wonder about it anyway, if anybody knows if this is alright, let me know. thanks for the info.

It all depends on which gear you in. say your in first gear the whole time. your still going to use the same amount of gas, but your just in a lower gear so your moving slower, thus for not as much ground covered. if you were in the highest gear and at a low RPM then you would travle alot further. also you can get some good milage out of reserve.

well I had a 85 honda 250 I loved that machine I bet the crap out of it all the time
I your saying that you go 30 miles then go to reserve that might be kinda of a low number but all depends on where your dirven in the woods or out on the dirt roads. ATV's are hard to judge what's expectible fuel mileage.
if you and your friend are getten about the same with the same size then I would say nothing wrong

My Recon 250 (229cc) used to get about 100 miles on a tank. I think the gas tank was 2.4 gallon including reserve. Of course, it depends if you drive aggressively. I usually take it easy and enjoy the views. So I guess I was getting a little over 40 mpg sometimes. I'm afraid to even figure out what mpg's my Foreman is getting.

What is your total tank capacity? Maybe it has a larger reserve. You might have to turn it on sooner but it will last longer while on reserve.

We average 50 to 60 miles on our Rubicon, a high of 86. Our Rancher goes about the same but has a smaller tank.

Yes , I would figure a 50 mile range with 10 miles of reserve fuel for hard trail riding.
