oh, and my 400ex was a great machine, but the 450 is a serious jump in technology.....these 4 stroke motors now are really ingenious....lotta smart people in R+D sqeezin every drop of hp out of some medium displacement motors...best thing that could happen to the market....even if we gotta pay for it
I just used the stock crf450 front sprocket. The splines are perfect and you can pick it up at any honda dealer or order one online of your choosing. Holy cow, it wakes it up in a hurry. I'm taking it back out to the trails tomorrow. I can't wait. Just make sure you hang on to the handlebars after make the change. You will get a big surpise and land on your rear otherwise. You don't have to wait on the rpms to build before you feel the hit now.

I don't think I'll lose to much top end. In all honesty, I'm not really concerned about the top end as much though. I can't say that I've had more than a few times where I could really top out a quad anyways and when I did it was a little spooky. 0-60 is where it's at for me, besides I don't think most drags will ever hit 5th gear anyways. Just breaking in the quad the other day, I gave it hell one time and was at 50 mph and barely in 3rd gear in no time flat. I had to shut it down cause I was out of room in a hurry. In case your wondering about the MPH, I use a Garmin GPS for getting the speed. I also used it to tell when I had the 15 miles on the quad.
