I have a 440ex and a new 450R. The 440ex is about dead even with the stock 450r. My 440KFX (KAWI) is alot faster than the stock my Stock 450R. I got to say " the TRX450 is by far the best quad I've ever bought yet alone ridden".

Dunelitttle- Congrats on the win. I predicted this would be the outcome a few months back.

Learningtofly- get used to eating sand on the 450 or open the wallet and start spending. A proper piped/jetted raptor will not have a problem with a 450. What good does dropping to a 13t do for the 450?? Can you launch in 2nd now? Will it brake 60 mph in high gear?

Get ready to spend???? Yeah, maybe 500 bucks for a full exhaust... I'll give you that... I've spent $330 on mods, 300 hrc kit and 30 for the front sprocket.
I wouldn't even want to think what kind of money you would have to spend on the raptor to get the same performance.

My point is that a lot of ( not all) Raptor owners want to talk smack on honda quads and the 450R. My 450R is now scary fast and I have no doubt it will hold it's own against a YFZ. Full exhaust, cam mods, gearing and the two quads will be so close it won't even be funny. And yes the YFZ may win by 1 or 2 quad lengths in a 125 yard drag. I'm not knocking the YFZ. Never have, I have a lot of respect for it's power.

I haven't tried launching in 2nd yet.... I will try that next time..... However, first feels pretty good with the mod and 2nd, 3rd gears are just a blip.

Like I responded to you in another post, I had the 450R going 58.5 mph in high 4th gear and had to shut it down because I only had 100-125 yards of beach. If I can get 1.6 mph out of 5th gear, then yes it will break 60MPH.

Yamaha660R and 14mins- You are the worst trash talkers of anyone on this forum and now you have to shut your pie holes and admit that you were wrong about the 450R.

duneittilludie- I believe what you are saying. The stock 450R is gearing does appear to very tall. It was a night and day difference when I made the sprocket change though. Thanks again for the info and sorry for making this a bashing post.

learning- i have been around enough of the crf dirtbikes (which are faster than the quad will ever be) to know what the quad is or is not going to do. And drag racing is not going to be a strong point. I did not see the mph you posted in the other thread. I have not checked in there yet. I thought maybe you had put the 13t on there to launch in 2nd. Yes i personally have a lot of $$$ in MY raptor. But i have seen guys that have put 325 dollars in there do extremely well.

I saw a new 450R with the HRC kit race a Z400 with a Yosh pipe, filter, and jet kit. The Z won every time. This was up Comp Hill at Buttercup on Friday. Riders were same size so weight wasn't a factor. They were both running Haulers. The funny part was that the Honda guy had 8K invested and the Z can be had for $5600 plus the mods. I'm a bit disdappointed that the 450 didn't do better considering its displacement advantage and the HRC parts. The jury is still out.....

well... i dont think a piped and filtered z is gonna beat a 450r.. considering one couldnt beat my stock pred... my buddies 450r smokes my pred on bottom... but i slowly catch up on top.

and IMO.. i dont think a piped and jetted raptor will waste a 450r... or beat it for that matter...
yamaha guys need to wake up... they got serious competition with the 450r out now... but they still think there piped raptors will go about 183 up hill in second gear...

sduncan-If a piped z 400 was beating a 450r with the hrc kit then the honda rider must have been a novice.Even though i was not exactly impressed with the new hrc kit equipped 450r it would make easy work of a piped z 400.I ride the dunes many times a year and i get to see a lot of drag racing and i do quite a bit my self and i have never seen a z 400 that performed as you described. It may be possible that the z400 was built much further than the owner stated and then it would make sense.

A pipe must really wake up the YFZ up because the the stock one I raced today decided he didn't want to race no more after I smoked him 3 for 3. In about a 600 ft drag I would take him out of the hole and be about 4-6 lengths ahead at the end

All I can say to Raptor owners is " Line up against a 450R with the HRC kit and 13T sprocket and you will get your @ss handed to you." You would have to have a super modified raptor to stand a chance. Unless you can take a piped YFZ, you are not going to beat the 450R. If you can beat a piped YFZ, then my hat is off to you. Don't kid yourself, the 450R is going to be a bad mother, especially when a few more mods hit the market. I can't see an aftermarket pipe hurting the performance either.......

I run side by side with a piped YFZ on pavement over about 100 yards. So bring on the 450R's, and they better get here quick. Within the next 3 weeks the Raptor is going in for a 686, and then it's going to be tough for the R's to even keep up. I know some people like to talk a lot of crap, without experience. But I do plenty of riding and racing, and I know what I'm talking about.
