Australian Honda Quad???
#1
I was looking at a magazine of old honda quads
(about 1995) and they had a "Honda 250 Australian Quad"?
What would that mean...I know it was from australia but it looked like the same quads that we have here in North America. What's the difference???

same difference as our New Zealand honda quads....basic bikes are they same just speced different, and called something slightly different......our 300 4x4 was a bigred....where as in the US the were fourtrax.,.....now all honda 4wheelers are coming from US factory we get the same brands as you guys.......its called BRANDING!!
our 300 4x4's came with speedos std different tires, etc
my old 200sx came with racks std....and drawbar std
in reply to the question the aussie honda quad will more than likely be a usual honda quad....speced slightly different, maybe aussie assembled......
unless some mad inventor created something similar to an atv.....but then it wouldn't be a honda.....because he would be breaching copyright laws (ie using the honda name!)
the bike in question will be a 250sx built before the 300 4x4..........or was it a recon....but they weren't around in '95

If that's the April, 1995 issue of the magazine, the Australian Honda was exactly like its mates marketed in the US, except: all fasteners (nuts and bolts) were Whitworth instead of metric sizes; all threads were left-handed, compensating for reversed Coreolis forces in the southern hemisphere. Controls were reversed (e.g., left-thumb throttle, right-foot shifter, etc.) as mentioned above, plus the tires had a special high-adhesion rubber compound tread for operation "Down Under."

Aussie quads have crossbows mounted on them, roll cages, nitrous bottles and those huge front bumper cow cather looking things. They also at the time of purchase give you a mowhawk and paint it orange. They are then reguired to wear football pads and hockey helmets. The quads down under must really be bad on gas because I heard they all wander the wastland looking for fuel.
