You're right jonzo .. we got O/T there a bit eh?

I don't know why they would spend r & d dollars on improving the EX, though I'm sure that there is definitely a market for a newer and better one, even if they simply made the upgrade to liquid cooling and kept the 400 .. Really tho, the 450R is kind of the replacement in a way, though it is more race-bred out of the box than the EX ...

I guess your friend is either gonna have to mod up his EX or do something awful to your quad if he wants to keep up to ya!! LOL

The 400ex is a very capable quad. Try this on for size. Lets put a stock 400ex vs a stock Z in the Baja championship race. I have have no doubt the 400ex would beat the Z. Mind you they are stock there is alot more to go wrong on the Z like lets say the liquid cooling just in that I could think of numerous things to go wrong. Anyways Honda built the 400ex to be slammed into numerous situations and walk away from them not at the last of the packed the 400ex is a very plain jane quad that even my 10yr old son can ride it good. Less bells and Whistles less to go wrong. To top it off for under a grand you could have one bad machine that can be a compeitive racer.

I think the Warrior got you beat there for being underrated ... nobody gives the Warrior any credit at all. It's not the fastest quad on the market, but guess what .. neither is the 400EX. Yeah the Warrior is old, and heavy, but it's got heaps of torque for a 350 air cooled, and other than a lack of power is one of the better hill climbers available due to it's "heavy" front end. And on top end it's not a hell of a lot slower than the EX which is lighter and much more powerful. It's not as quick by a long way, but still for all, it can get up there in speed for a dinosaur.
I disagree! The Warrior was NEVER considered as a high performance quad so how can it be under rated as such? The 400EX is still considered a big bore, the Warrior never was. When the 400EX came out it was the biggest and best handling quad available and second in speed only to the Banshee! The Warrior never came close to that title nor was it ever meant to. The 400EX was Hondas racer till just recently. When was a Warrior ever considered Yamahas racer? HUMMM, It never was! Do you see were I'm going with this?

Not in a straight line you didn't, the track yeah if you're the better rider, but not in a drag race. The EX just doesn't have the same power the Z has. Please don't come back with yeah but this and yeah but that, the EX is lacking in power to the Z and that's it, can't deny it........

I've owned alot of different Quads and I think this 400ex I got is super ATV I would put it right behind a Predator for pure fun and power and price! look at what I've owned in my bio and I really like it, yes it's not liquid cooled but the the motor is super strong for what you get. and the suspension set up it still one of the best you can get. Honda 400ex is not out dated by any means.
WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
