anybody raced a 250r trx or trike against the 450?

 

What are you trying to start here, you know you can't compare old outdated two-strokes with shiney, new, powerful, fourstrokes. Moderators please lock this thread up.

Stock for stock the 450 will outperform it but do some good porting, add a pipe, jetting, etc., and especially adding a big bore kit like a 310 and the 250R will outperform the 450.

 

I disagree. I think the 450r, mod for mod, will better than the 250r even with a 310 kit.

 

No way!! My son has a 250R with an ESR310 kit (7 port for MX) and his friend has a YFZ, at the dunes at Little Sahara when they drag race the 310 spanks the YFZ by 4-5 quad lengths each time. Both have the same paddles as well. The YFZ has the cam mod and airbox lid removed and exhaust. And everything we've seen shows the YFZ faster than the 450R.

When people say which one is faster looking at a stragiht away drag is not the way to do it. I have raced many quads on my 250r against people who had overall faster quads but on the track is a completley different race(usually we were all about the same experince). So i will wait and see on the track which one is faster, but if i had to bet i would say the 250r. The new 450, as much R & D honda puts in there are always kinks the first year of the production of a quad. Give it a few years then the 450 and honda will be back on top.
