Magazine articles and people whining

It's interesting that when Honda use to win all the shootouts years ago everyone else said Honda was paying off the magazine and they aren't believable. Now as new quads have come out and Honda is beat more and more (or at least very close), Honda owners are saying magazines are full of crap and you can't trust them. This has especially become true with the TRX450R. Sometimes I even think magazines pick the latest quad out as the winner to hype it up. I have been surprised the YFZ is still winning in the shootouts with it being about 7 months old.
This is not an opinion of which is better, just an observation of people and their justification for losing.

Who are those magazine guys??? A bunch of So. Calif. motocross dudes! Of course they are going to pick the bike that is the better MX'r. Trouble is, 99% of the bikes out there will never see an MX track.
If the TRX had won the shootout, all the Yamaha owners would be in here saying what a bunch of So. Calif. motocross **** those magazine dudes are! But suddenly, their word is gospel, when they are saying what they want to hear!

I stopped subscribing to most of the mags. I kept one so I can see the ads which is all I was really interested in. All the other info is available on the net. I don't get a newspaper anymore either. You can read anything important on the net.

Welcome to life. The older you get... the more you see of,whats called conflict of interest. It happens everywhere, just remember, its only opinions and everyone has one, and whats right for one person doesnt make it right for everyone,.

Dirt Wheels? thats just a mail order catalog in my opinion........
Subscribed to them until several years agon after I saw the VERY same text used, (I mean a total word for word copy) in a paddle tire "review" test.........
come on guys, you had to do a re-print and call it origional journalism? cough cough. I cry bull when I see it.
I needed to order some parts the other day so I bought a copy of their latest mail-order catalog, and the friggin cover price was $6 plus tax. CRAP thats getting expensive for the fluff and filler between their PAYED advertisement.........I vote with my pocket book, and they don't see my subscription dollars, ATVsport is about the only good mag out there right now and the rest of the rags are just ads ads more ads, and then some fluff review.
bah.

yeah, ATVSport is good, but even their race coverage is starting to dwindle in favor of machine reviews. Slowly but surely, they are going to fade. What we need is a mag like RacerX. Their journalism is somewhat lacking as well, but they have lots of articles. Good race coverage too.

With the initial release of all the machines the market is currently seeing, there will be issues where tech/racing will be edged out by machine reviews.....it's very busy right now. People like to see how the new kids on the block measure up.

I can't believe that I am waisting my 700th post on this subject but here it is anyway.
The truth is, that you all give these magazine articles WAY too much credibility. I have yet to meet anyone who after reading one of these endless shootouts, has switched from buying the quad that they Really wanted, to one that they didn't want, because of the oppinions of some faceless editor in a magazine. If you are looking to a magazine to justify the decission you made as to which quad is best for you, then I would say you are eventually in for some kind of dissapointment, since year after year the bar is being raised, and this years Champ may be next years Looser.
