Default honda recon 250 problems. HELP

I have a Honda Recon 250 that i am needing some help with. First of all let me say i am just learning about this machine. It is a 2003 model . There is a rubber hose tht come out of the bottom of the carb.. It isn't a gas line or anthing but I flet it needed to be connected to something since it came out of the bottom of carb..I'm not very smart. Does this hook to something. Secondly , the machine is hard to start and whent it does it usually fouls the plug. This machine has very low hours on it. thanks for your helpL YOU GUYS ON THIS FORUM HAVE A WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE AND I DON'T SORRY HELP

There are some hoses that do not connect to anything.

Also, don't look for an oil filter because there is none on the Recon.

Coyotechaser thanks for the reply. Would you have any knowdedge on why its fowling plugs. sometimes it acts like it getting too much gas and sometimes not enough. Its almost like the fuel , air mixture isn't right on idle or full thottle. thanks

The hose that comes from the bottom of the carb is probably the float bowl drain. If you look at the float bowl, there is probably a small screw head that goes into the bowl somewhere near the hose. It is used to drain the carb during the times you aren't going to be driving.

I really don't want to venture a guess and have it be something completely different. Just some thoughts that may not have anything to do with it. Sometimes different elevations will require different jetting. Maybe there's some debris in the fuel. Maybe it just needs a tune-up. I really don't know.

The hose thing- If you turn your gas off. Then stand your quad up on it's rear rack. You will see a little gas drain out of a hose. (more if gas is not turned off) I think this is the hose your writing about. If it is then it is normal.

The hose you are talking about is the drain hose for the carburetor and looking at the side where you turn the fuel off you can see the screw right above where the small hose is attached.

First thing is your air filter clean?

If its clean then it sounds like maybe you have a stuck float or like Coyotechaser
said dirt in the carburetor.

My 99 Recon starts so easy and has never fouled a plug.
