i just bought a 86 250R and need to clean the filter before i ride it. It look like a K&N filter or something similiar. itn not a foam filter. What can i use to clean it? Can I put regular filter oil on it? Thanks

 

If its a K&N they usually have their own specific cleaning/oil kit. Ive seen other brands but id stick to the K&N kit. I think it cost like 12 bucks

 

get the K&N recharger kit if it is a K&N it costs 10 bucks and most auto stores carry it

 

If it is a K&N, then your standard filter oil willl ruin it.

is it foam? or is it a cotton guaze ? a K&N is purple (white when they dry out) and have a metal screen on the outside
a foam one is ussaly yellow with (sometimes) a metal screen on the inside
