97' FOURTRAX 300 4X4?

I think that is a great deal. I would buy that thing if it is in good condition. They have great power for the size of the motor in that big of a machine. I know i love mine. And with the bigger tires, it would be hard to find the right size because for some reason they set it up for shorter tires in front than in rear so you couldnt get the same size all round. That is about the only thing i dont like about them. Nothin major.

my 95 300 4X4 came new with 24x9x11 on the rear and 23x8x11 on the front. this is because the 300 has a different gear ratio in the rear than it does in the front. so if u don't keep a 1 inch tire diameter difference it will put a bind on the transfer case. the final drive on the front is 5.554 and on the rear it is 5.684 that is why the difference in tire size.

That sounds like a GREAT deal! 2900 for a '97 trx300 fw is a cheap in Georgia (prices of a 97 are around 3500 - 4000 USD). Check for defects and don't forget to CHECK the OIL. I got mine in '97 for about 3700 bucks (1993 model). I've had mine for 3 years now... and have put on in the ballpark of 1500 to 2000 miles on it; my only problems in 3 years: 2 torn CV boots and several flats.... that's it. Its a well-made mechanically solid bike.
Later and good luck...
