which pipe???
The only way you are going to alter the powerband on a disc style pipe is if you remove so many discs that the engine cant breathe. Otherwise the powerband will be almost the same with full discs or with 1/2. The powerband will simply be lower on hp and torque. When you remove more thant 1/2 the discs, you start restricting the exhaust to the point where it begins to be counterproductive. If you have to have a quiet machine, dont change the pipe. Especially on a recon when you are looking at minimal hp gains at best. Stick with the stocker, or find an aftermarket pipe designed for hp without noise. BTW, I still havent found any pipes like this yet either.

which pipe???
The power curve can and will be changed with the number of discs, it is the same concept as the LRD adjustable two stroke pipes. No, you probably wouldn't be able to tell a difference with a recon just by riding it. But you could see a difference in the power curves on a dyno. I understand that the supertrapp for the recon was built with bottom end torque in mind and it has it's boundries. However, the curve can still be changed slightly within those boundries. This is what the disc systems where designed to do, along with an un-restricted spark arrestor design. Why else would they have made the system? Maddog, both you and Redgoblin are right and wrong- IMO. On a recon, little or now difference will be felt with every mod done, much less by simple changing out discs. But the disc system exhaust's where disigned to be adjustable for sound, and power curve changes. Thanks for listening
