Sproket Sizes for 450R?
#1
Just bought my 450R a week ago haven't had much time to ride. The few times I did ride I noticed it was geared to high. Just wondering what the best size sprockets to run in the woods and in the sand?

I dropped to a 13T crf450 sprocket in front. The gear ratio is roughly 1 drop in front will be equal to adding 3 teeth in back.
So you have some room to play. I would try the 13T in front, it is only 30$, easy to install and chain slack can be adjusted. It makes a huge difference in the woods. I liked the 13T for the sand, but I had sand sharks on my 450R and did not hook up as well as I should have. I'm switching to a more aggressive tire for the back, I had the sand sharks on my 400EX and it did fine, but I never dragged it.
The 13T will make the 450R low end a lot more responsive.

Thanks for the tip, I went to my Honda dealer to buy a front sprocket and they told me they didn't have the parts listings yet for the 450R and that they couldn't sell me one. I will ask for a crf 13t front sprocket, you would think Honda parts would know this! Thanks Again Bill
