If the bike is 20-30 points under stock on the compression gauge rebuild it.
This whole "how many hours" thing is a joke because no manufacturer or any desk clerk can tell you what is better for your bike because only you know how you run it and under what conditions. BTW, its not only the piston you should change when it loses compression. Remember to change your pin bearing too or you'll be a sorry fella later on.
Personally 100 hours on a motor is a long time. Id never run one over 50 with at least tearing it down and going over it.

What? Well you're one of the few then. I had over 500 hours on my 400ex and when i did in fact take it apart to check, it was in stellar condition with extremely minimal wear, and the compression was well within stock guidelines, so 100 hours is pitiful for a 4 stroke. As far as "ultra high performance", i call bs on that... take a look at the crotchrockets pulling over 14k revs, do they need rebuilt every 100 hours? come on....
As I said, at least 70% of the 450R owners are not going to be racing it, they are just weekend warriors for the most part, if these bikes start grenading that early, you'll be seeing them lined up in the for sale section. I think Honda is the best out there, a little slow at r&d, but they're top knotch when they build a bike, this bike "should" last quite a long time. Speculation means nothing, people want the facts.
