My Rincon could be for sale

Not enough throttle response, lacking pep????
1) check the ohmes of the throttle position sensor. I beleive it is supposto be about 480 to 530 ohmes.
Check it out closely. this setting if low gives exactly what you describe as I posted in Dec 03.
2) Spend a few dollars and get a Works jet kit and K@N filter. They replace the jet, respace the jetneedle and give you a new needel, give you a 1/3 shorter spring (better throttle response) and the filter(better breathing and filteration.)
These few things woke up my new Rincon considerably.(about 30% more power) So, check your exaust/spark plug. Is it really black????????????
My next purchase is a FMF Powerline exaust pipe. (about 5% more power? mabey)
So Do number 1) this may be all you need. Ride safe Bushcrasher.

I agree with ATVtech1 about the oil. We have found the machines, especially the trans, perform much better with the 0-30 Honda oil in cold temps. Remember the tran is similar to Honda auto car trans. Would you run 10-40 in your accord auto tran in the winters you have in Ontario? I don't think so. Even the oil level is important. I worked on one rincon where the complaint was sluggish shifting, poor performance. The problem turned out to be the thing was low on oil. The customer changed it and didn't follow the procedure (hope you did) and was nearly a quart low. Oil weight and level is VERY important on this model.

IM sure i changed the oil correctly . I read the book.. drained oil, changed filter, added 3 litres of oil . i check it and it seems to be right where it should be. But i did use the GN4 ,Honda dealer here never said not to use that oil in the winter so i assumed it would be ok.Well its warming up here now so i guess i'll leave it in there and try it again shouldn't have many days left of - 5 . Snow is all gone so i'll wait and try it again whern it warms up but even when i bought it in the fall it was the same thing, but it wasn't broken in. Im going to check the throttle sensor ohms . How do i check it?

Well, you're obviously running lean if the plug was white. Now you just have to find why it is running lean. Is it idling erratic or is the idle smooth? If the idle is erratic, I'm thinking there could be an air leak at one of the intake boots or where they clamp. If the idle is smooth, this probably isn't the problem. Is the air filter seated all the way in? Check the two vent hoses coming from the carb to see if they are kinked or plugged somehow. If these hoses aren't open, atmospheric pressure cannot make its way into the float bowl, and fuel cannot be sucked into the engine via engine vacuum. Of course, Honda could also have installed the wrong main jet, or forgotten to install one of the two shims under the jet needle. There are a lot of different things that can cause a lean condition, but at least we have an idea as to why your Rincon is not running properly.

It seems to be idleing pretty smooth, but it feels kinda boggy when you give it a good shot of gas. I think im going to have to take it back to the dealer before the warranty runs out.Anything i can look for or check before i do?

I put on a Big Gun exhaust and a carb kit, now it does wheelies all day long. Now quad is very loud and can't ride around my yard for fear of upsetting neighbors. I would try jet kit 1st then if that doesn't do it pipe would be next. Big Gun compared to stock is like a Civic compared to a Mack truck.
