Valve Clearance

I am going to check my valve clearance this weekend on my Rancher. I have a question for someone out there that has done this on a Foreman or a Rancher. There is a gasket under the Cylinder Head Cover that in the manual it says to replace. Is this a paper gasket or a rubber gasket?

On the Foreman 450 it is a rubber O-ring style gasket on the valve cover.
