We all know the 250sx is a 4 stroke. The 3 times I took my 250r to Cherry hill Honda the job wasnt done right and I had to take it back.Since then I do all of my own work, except shock rebuilding and cylinder boring. My Banshee left the dealer new and never went back. Hey Exotic1 check out TJParts express, they sell oem parts at least %50 less than dealers. 1-800-256-9309 www.tjpartsxpress.com

ATV man can you descride what is wrong with the motor this way we can give u a better average price. So u can decide if it is worth rebuilding. Also pick up a clymer manual and read through the steps in the book to see if you can handle the rebuild yourself. Also if you attemt to rebuild the motor yourself make sure you pick up the right tools. There is nothing like haveing the right tool for the job. It will make the motor rebuild go smoother and stop all the harsh name calling when you mess up..

I doubt he needs a rebuild on a 200SX, I have tried and tried to break mine. If it doesnt smoke leave it alone.

OK JRM....but whenever I gear down the engine or gears inside make a noise...not a gear crunching...something else I don't know what tho.

I have one of those Repair books on order allready like a week ago...should be in soon.

Also theirs oil leaking out of the engine...I allready made a post in the "Performance Mods and Mechanical section" about this.

ATV_MAN, i've owned a 200SX and i'd say it was the best quad ever built, mine went through h*ll and back and run until it seized up 2 years ago due to a crack in the oil pan in the mountains. the oil, check the below the counter sprocket, theres a chance that the chain came off and broke it, if it is, have someone weld a piece of metal on it if possible, hope it helps

can ya tell us more about the noise?

is the noise timing chain?....internal slapping noise.....dissapears under engine acceleration? has it ever had a cam chain?...adjusted?

where is the oil coming from.....the chain probs you had?.....they put hole round you front sprocket.....?

i agree on the engine, if it ain't smokin don't touch it......they are a tough motor....but age will adventually catch up on anything......if its any help to ya...that bike uses the same motor as the honda fatcat.....slightly diff gearbox.....(fatcat has no reverse)....

My 200SX made this noise for 1 & half years. When you let off the gas on flat ground or going to downhill and any time you shifted down going down a hill.Check the clutch plates out.

86HONDA,

Can you tell me how to check the clutch plates without me screwing up the engine??....because I don't know that I'm doing, and how much are they?

(gotta get that repair manual soon)
