Rancher400 - This is my 6th ATV and I am not about to change the way I drive because this rubi is finicky. This is the reason I am so concerned. I can't believe you think it is normal for your Rancher to stall after letting off the throttle.

RubiconRider - I purchased my Rubi "Thinking" it was a work horse. If you had a chance to drive mine, you would understand. Guess what? I don't ride my machine, I work it. I spend my weekends as a wannabe lumberjack. I use my atv as a mini skidder pulling logs from my land. I need a machine that will not stall under load. What I am seeing from others is that I am not the only one with this problem.

Then sell it and buy what you want. You sound like someone that has your mind made up. Sell it and buy the other brand. I just said mine had only 60 miles on it and it is still not broke in. I would hate to condemn a bike with just 80 miles on it. You have your mind made up, maybe the dealer said he would never sell you a rubicon again. I think that is more like it. I am beginning to think you just like to argue and maybe you should leave the booze alone.

I have a 2002, have 3 friends with Rubis and none of us have the problems mentioned. I work mine very hard skidding & doing farm & plowing. Never skipped a beat.

Sounds like you're the exception, not the rule.

2002 rubicon 1800miles now. Yes it did stall from time to time. Hell the forklift I drive stalls when asking to much. Hell my ol chevy stalls, my mazda truck stalls. on and on and some times my f150 spits and sputters when I come to a stop sign.

However My biggest stalling problems was midrange in mud or pulling then let off the gas quickly. I also was starting to have a hard starting problem espically if cold! I proceded to use K&n filter. DYNO jet kit Outerwear sleeve and I make sure I always run my 89 octane with 10%ethonal. (this is my choice not a solution) My problems have vanished. and as a matter of fact I put titan 589's on the thing 26 inchers.

and if you dont think a proper valve adjustment wont mess with air fuel mixture your in for a treat if they do them correctly after a few hundred miles!!!! night and day. easier start, more power youll see if you stick with this machine.

The jet kit complete kit was the trick. the needle has a differant tapper etc.. etc... not a new honda jet but a dyno jet! your mid range will improve and it helps the sudden shut off of gas problem.

Id for sure look into weak spark coming from the electrical side or make sure the proper plug is in it.
Has any one at this shop did the full throttle shut off and check the plug yet????? you can tell alot about the jetting by doing that. Has your spark arrestor ever been checkd? cleaned?

I'm a 19 year tech from a dealership that has sold literally hundreds of Rubs since they've been introduced in 01. The vast majority of our customers are satisfied with their machines. It's impossible to judge your ride without riding it. If there was something wrong I think Gimpster or ATVtech1 could fix it, or at least make it better. Specta as usual is the voice of reason. I remember your post from months ago, and I think I posted I'm not convinced there is anything wrong with your machine. I have found over the years that ALL machines have imperfections. What one guy thinks is a major malfunction and just can't live with, the next nine won't even notice. I think you are that one guy. RancherAT400 makes a good point. If you are so unhappy with your ride, find something you can live with and trade it in. Your obsession with this thing is not doing anybody any good. It seems you are more interested in whining about this issue than finding a solution for it.

Dzzy,

I agree with you completely. It is impossible to judge without riding it. Yet allot of people are openly voicing they're opinion and accuse me of being a whiner. I really don't understand.

Trading my machine in for another one, when did I mention anything about that? I would loose thousands of dollars doing that. Hell, I just bought the thing. I just want it fixed by Honda. Did anyone read my original post? I am looking for people with similar problems to let me know; that's all. What the hell is wrong with that?

Man, this is just simply getting nasty. I am sorry if I offended anyone. I would like to apologize to every Honda rubicon owner. Rubi is the best machine is the whole world. Nothing can ever go wrong with Honda. Does everyone feel better now?

Oh ya, Rancherat400, email me at rubicon@laclong.ca with your home phone number. I would love to have a chat with you and discuss why you get so worked up by these conversations.

I would like to thank everyone who's intent was to help me. No need to mention names, you know who you are.

That’s it for me.

Y

I sure hope you get your stalling problem fixed. We love our Rubicon. Like I've said before; "Hondamatic, everythink else is just a belt."

I think this is still the most advanced ATV on the market and the transmission is years ahead of anything any other manufacture is capable of delivering.

Good luck.
