· Are you having problems with your Rubicon stalling under load?
· Does your Honda stall in the middle of a mud whole?
· Does your Rubicon stall when you are towing something and you let off the throttle?
· Does your Foreman 500 stall when going up hill and you let off the throttle because you can't go any further?
If you can answer any one of these questions then join the club. You are not alone!
My machine has all the problems listed above. This is my fifth ATV and never before, have I experienced these problems.
I brought the machine back to my dealer and he agrees with me that this $10,000.00 dollar machine should not work this way. He has been on the phone with Honda service numerous times but none of their recommendations have worked to fix the problems. At first, they did not want to admit that there are problems with their machine. It was only after I got the run around from Honda customer relations that a “new guy” admitted that numerous Honda dealers have been calling with the same symptoms. All this to say that my problems still aren’t resolved and that this once loyal Honda customer is disappointed, frustrated and ready to tell anyone who will listen.
My dealer, has gotten no where with Honda and has now decided not to sell the Rubicon anymore.
If you are having a problem with your Honda Rubicon I would like to hear from you. Please send me an email at rubicon@laclong.ca. My intent is to gather as many names as possible so I can approach Honda and politely ask them to fix this issue.
Thanks

Give us the serial number and such so we can make sure you are not some poster who is scamming on the Honda board. Too many come on here flaming Honda. If you are serious you will put the year of the model, where bought, the phone number of your dealer and the serial number. My 2 cents worth. That way we can tell you are serious.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your Rubicon. Please understand that you're definitely in the minority here, as Honda has been selling this ATV for a few years and apart from early oil pump relief valve problems, the Rubicon has been relatively trouble free. Honda certainly is not perfect and the odd lemon makes its way out of the factory now and then. You just happened to be one of the unlucky few who ended up with one of these. As for your dealer, anyone who stops selling an ATV because they cannot properly diagnose a problem should question wether he/she is in the right business. You should also be questioning wether or not you are doing business with a competent dealership, as any dealer worth his salt will not simply drop a model from his showroom because of a few problems. Has the dealer performed an oil pressure check? Has he checked the vent lines coming from the carb? Has he checked the centrifugal clutch for wear and burning? (I've seen this problem which caused a big loss of power) The Rubicon will climb almost any hill, and tow an enormous amount of weight. There is obviously a problem with your ATV, but it does not apply to every Rubicon out there. Most Rubicon owners have not had any significant problems and they ride deep mud, tow oversized loads as well as climb steep hills with no stalling. I hope you get this resolved ASAP, it really bums me out to hear people having trouble with their ATV.

This is in reply to Rancherat400. Interesting, I had no idea people would consider this a joke.
Year: 2004
Miles: 80 <- Yep 80.
VIN: 478TE265044300299
I will provide you with a dealer phone number after I speak with him. He does not know that I am posting on the internet and I would like to ask him permission. The dealer is on my side on this one. Do you want my home phone number? :-)
In response to ATVTech1. I am not flaming Honda. My dealer was pushing a Vinson down my throat but I refused. I wanted a Honda because I traded in a '99 450 and it gave me 4 years with zero problems. I was thinking that my next (new) honda would be the same. As for mine being a lemon, I find that hard to believe because the first thing my dealer did was take out a new rubi from the show room floor and it had the same problem.

I was not joking, too many people are flaming on the internet today, not just here on the Honda Board, but all over. People turn into some real monsters when they can post things. You never know who you are dealing with. This forum is usually quite helpful and I like to make sure that the information is good.
I would hate to see someone getting ready to buy a Rubicon, not buy one on just your post alone. Also I have not seen nor heard of much problems at all with the Rubicon. I do not own one, but know others that do.
Do not take anything for granted and I try to make sure of the quality of the advice before I digest it.

Rancher,
I posted a problem with my Rubi months ago. I had many useful replies and as a result was more informed when speaking with my dealer. He checked everything that he possibly could at his own cost. Honda will not be giving him a penny for the time and material spent trying to fix my piece of junk.
I am at the point of no return. Posting to forums like this is my only hope. Honda customer relations is not returning my calls. I am hoping to get more rubi owners with similar problems report back to me because the next thing I am going to do is write a letter to my local newspaper. Hopefully they will print it.
What difference does it make having the year and serial number of my honda anyways?
Do you think I am serious now?

I must appologiize also, I thought it was a bashing thread also
I am a Certified Honda Tech, and have worked on many, many Rubicons with different types of problems
Look at it from my point of view ----
Anyway, if your dealer cannot find the problem, I would gladly step up to the plate, how far away from me are you ?
