some 300ex questions
#1
hey guys
I bought that 300ex I was asking about!! I have a few questions (I did search but no luck): what is the correct spark plug gap? what kind of oil does it take, and this may be the stupidest one, where is the oil filter?
any other maintence items I should know about??
thanks

Plug gap is .028 to .030, for oil, use a 4 stroke wet clutch rated 10w40, or 20w50 for hot weather or hard use. Yamalube is hard to beat for price and quality, but the choice is up to you. The oil filter is on the right hand side (as you sit on the quad) under a little banjo shaped housing held on by 3 bolts (metric). Just make sure you note the way the filter came out,and make sure the o rings on the filter cover don't fall off, and you'll be fine. Other than that, the motor is very reliable, I have done nothing to my son's in the 2 and a half years he's had it except change oil and filter, and clean the air filter.

congrats on your purchase,95wolv answered all your questions very good,i run the motorcycle oil made for crotchrocker motors cause it is made to be in engines that get reved high but regular 10w40 or 20w50 is good yamalube is also good oil.

Got my owners manual right here... If anyone needs pages photo copyed for the 300ex message me. The spark gap should be 0.024 in-0.028 in....(0.60 mm-0.70 mm)
working on taking out the engine myself right now
