Default Can someone reccommend a pipe/silencer for my 2001 CR250?

I know this is a quad forum but you guys don't mind answering questions about bikes do ya? Well I got a 2001 CR250 and it's all stock. I plan on getting a good airfilter for sure and everything but I been having A HELL OF A TIME looking up information on the net about the best pipe/silencer combo for my bike. I want something that will give my bike a harder midrange hit and pull hard through top end. I was looking at the FMF SST pipe and Power Core 2 silencer because that seems to fit the description pretty good, but can someone tell me what's a good pipe and silencer for my bike? Pro Circuit? FMF?....... thanks.

Both FMF and Pro-circuit are good exhausts in the dirtbike world. I'm partial to FMF. And if that is who you chose to go with, yes, you want the SST exhaust. If you prefer Pro-circuit they have a mid-top exhaust as well. For dirtbike info go here. Clicky Clicky They are a great site, and when I had a dirt bike they were THE place to find out info. Good luck.

I would go with the FMF that's what I have on my CR250 and it's great.

i am an ex- dirt biker and i have always been faithful to fmf. on CR's i think that the fmf fatty and shorty/titanium2 combo works the best because it adds great mid range and hit also it improves the lower end without taking away from the top.

pro circuit is the best way to go. my bro and I both have cr500's and I had a fmf and he had a pro circuit his was fasest stock for stock same bike gearing paddal and jetting and fresh top ends. later my fmf fell apart and dident seal very well. I wouldendt use a fmf again if someone gave me one for free.

thanks for the replies guys.... Now I'm getting a bit confused though. Does Pro Circuit and FMF give close enough power gains where it would be hard to tell a difference anyway? I'm wondering if I should just buy what's cheaper because the FMF is quite a bit more $$ than Pro Circuit but I don't wanna be dissapointed either.... What to do......

yes the gains would be very simalar between the fmf and PC pipes. if the PC pipes are much less you would be wise to go with PC over the fmf if price is a issue. they look simalar also accept PC offers a facrory finish and i dont think fmf does.

The FMF Fatty and SST are the best all around exhaust you can get for most 2-stroke bikes and quads. The FMF's just have more power output throughout the entire rpm range than any other exhaust setup I have rode. Pro Circut has absolutely no bottom end power, hardly any midrange, but has a top-end you will not forget.

I like FMF just because you do not have to have the bike at really high rpm's to go anywhere. With FMF the bike always seems to be on the pipe.

If you like the stock pipe with alot more power go FMF. If you are a pro and keep the bike tacked out in every gear at all times go Pro Circut.

I prefer 4-stroke kinda power so I would go FMF all the way.

Sounds like an FMF SST pipe with a power core 2 silencer is the one.... thanks all!
