Dumb College Kid NEEDS Hondamatic Technical Info to Qualify
Alright,
Honda makes some great, cuuting edge products, but, the are the most difficult company I have ever worked with when asking even the most basic question about there product.
Luckily, there is all of you, those savy riders and mechanics to pull them through their lacking service.
I represent a student engineering group who designs a small atv/tractor for an international contest.
We are using the a Hondamatic tranmision in parallel to planetary gear set to build a "split power" CVT, similar to those used on Fendt agricultural tractors.
BUT, we must submit technical data on our the hondamatic. We absolutely MUST know that the Hondamatic never exceeds 4000 PSI (a safety regulation) in the high pressure portings.
Anyone who knows or knows the source for this confirmation, please reply. We need hard documentation.
Thank you

I don't know if this helps, but the oil pump that feeds the Hondamatic trans produces around 22 psi with the engine idling at 1400 rpm and 116 psi at 5000 rpm. I could not see a spec for the high pressure oil discharged by the pump side motor pistons.
You might try calling American Honda at 310-532-9811, they are in Torrance, CA.
