With the advent of the 450R- outstanding Baja win. Will the ever legendary 250R be now put to rest? That is will the aftermarket companies still make stuff for'em? 2006 is right around the corner y'know....

Nope. There is still too many 250rs out there for them to stop making parts for it.

Yup. WAS being the operative word. Still very good but not the best.

although the 250R was the best, I'll take a 4 stroke any day, no rebuilding the top end every 500 hours, and you can climb a hill w/ out down shifting, and my 350x 3 wheeler beat a suzuki 1992 250 dirt bike, why did it beat it? because it was a 2 stroke, and it had low hours on it..

"Guarantee" How are you going to pull that off? I have a 1986 250R and I like it a lot. Iit's a sweet quad, good handling with predcitable power. They were the crim-da-la crim, for a "long" time, but their day has come. It's a sad day, but it had to happen sooner or later. The new ATV's that have come out recently (YFZ450, TRX450R) have stepped up the sport class. I have the YFZ450 and it's faster and better handling than my 250R. Would I get rid of the 250R "No Way"!

The Top end was rebuilt no long ago it has only 15-20 hours on it. When I tore it down to rebuilt it, the original honda piston was still in it. I'm only the 2nd owner. The guy that sold it to me decided that @ 77 years old he was getting to old to ride it. It was 100% original and complete when I bought it. I've put a pipe on it, re-jetted it and replaced the reeds with carbon fiber ones. While it runs great, it's still no match for my YFZ.... Some day in the future I hope to put a 310 kit on it, so things may change...
