Default need some help with rincon

I have a 2003 rincon. It has been nothing but problems since i bought it. the first day i had it I couldnt get it started, throughout the year i had it it keeps killing batteries and now as im driving it feels like it slip out of gear. I will still be in drive but it sounds like its in neutral and keeps hitting the rev limiter and slowly starts to stop on its own. I was told the tranny runs off oil pressure so i changed the oil and it still does it. Does anyone know of this or have any ideas for me to fix it before I have to take it to my dealer to fix it and get rapped on the bill. I am very good with engines but im stumped on this one any help would be great. thanks

Hello and sorry to hear you are having problems. I have a 03 Rincon myself, so far runs great - very smooth and lots of power. You mentioned that you changed your oil, perhaps it wasn't the first time? Just to eliminate the simple things, did you use an oil labeled Energy Conserving? I've read that using an Energy Conserving oil might make the tranny slip. You need to use an oil without friction modifiers - which is what an Energy Conserving oil contains. So if you used something that is normally used in car engines, that might be the source of your problem. Look for the words "Energy Conserving" on the starburst on the back of the oil container you used. If it's there, you need to start with an oil and filter change using the correct oil for your Rincon.

Another problem that I have heard of, is with some O rings in the tranny not sealing as they are supposed to. Apparently the dealer can check three different pressure levels on the tranny in each of the three gears, and if the pressure is not up to snuff, I have heard that Honda will buy you the new O rings.

Definitely get to the Rincon owners forum and join up. Lots of good info specific to the Rincon. rincon.atvowners.com I think is the address.

Default need some help with rincon

Hi:

I have an 04 Rubicon and it's only a couple weeks old. The first couple nights out with it kept doing what I thought was slipping in the tranny. I took it back and it turned out to be the linkage was not adjusted right so under load it would pop out of gear becasue the gears never meshed properly. Not sure if it is your problem as the tranny's are different on these quads but I was conviinced it was the tranny slipping as well because if I let off the throttle it was fine. If I got back on the the throttle it would slip. Some just don't come from the factory adjusted right. Mine has never done it again.

Quad 4 Fun;

Try going into Google and typing "rincon owners forum" and you should find a link to it.

RobG. is the moderator/owner of the forum. It's getting pretty big and is a very good place to find info on the Rincon.
