what mods do you have??? because I have a friend with big gun pipe, big gun cdi, kn air fliter, and big gun rectifier, and he weighs 105 and he only hits 75mph on pavement with no wind on flat ground so if you have a stock 400ex that goes 75 where can I get one?? also you say your 300 lb. friend can only do 50 on it well umm my friends ex that I mention well he has an older brother that weighs 220 and it only loses about 4 mph and that's about 115 lb. difference I guess the extra 55 lbs. makes it about another 21 mph slower I don't know

I have no mods. Its bone stock. But its like I said earlier, I got 68.1mph going on a flat road but had to slow down cause of a car was only going 45mph in front of me. I could have gotten a lot faster but wasn't able to. I've been tempted to take it out to the race track and see how it fairs in the 1/4 mile. As for where you can get a stock 400ex that goes 75, man, all I've read in various places states that each bike runs different. You could go get one from the same place I got mine and not run that fast or run even faster.

When the 400's were made there were a few that ran faster and a few that ran slower. So, all depends. His sisters boyfriend, bought a new 400 and stock it ran 90, but he broke it in right. too, that is a big factor in the end. So all depends but I would say 65-90 some where in there? Just stating the numbers on the ticket and quoting from the cop. I maybe a Newbie to these here forums but I am not newbie to riding quads. My 220 Bayou does 55mph, and I will swear on anything. It is not stock, I made a pipe, I got it re-jetted I done a few other things but that isn't the point. You cannot actually say something doesn't go that fast if you have never seen one go that fast. Jelousy gets you no where [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]. If there were someway to prove it I would. Can't base everything on what you hear, somethings you just have to believe. So believe it, or not. Can't see your brain. . .so does that mean it isn't there? HaHa. . .

I would love to see a stock 400EX break 90MPH. When my 400 was stock it would run 74MPH on the road and 68MPH on dirt.
2untouchables690, I have never heard of the 99's being any faster than any other year, but it does make sense. My EX stock was faster than what it should have been. I have never ridden an EX that had the power than mine did. So it may be true, I dunno.
As for modded 400EX's breaking 80 it isn't going to happen unless you change the gearing. Mine does 78MPH with stock gearing and could easily pull a few more gears. Keep in mind that my quad is about 15 lbs lighter than stock. I might need to get some new sprockets and see how fast I can get the 400 going. I think close to 100 is possible with the right gearing. What you people think?
