My 2002 300 EX cuts out and dies in deep water and takes afew minutes to restart. The air filter is dry so that's not the problem it seems to be electrical has anyone else had this problem. What could it be that is getting wet so I can try to waterproof it. Dose anybody have any ideas?

 

Mine does the same thing, i was also wondering what causes it. It only happens to mine in water over a foot (maybe more)

 

Yeah thats the same as mine it's a pain in the ***. I need to find what is causing it!

 

It's pretty simple really. After you wash it, and spray down the engine with cold water its hard to start right? It's just the water cooling down the engine which makes it die. You gotta keep the revs up high while going through deep water.

 

i go through some deep water on my 300ex. I just keep on the gas and go.

 

With mine you cant keep it going it just dosen't wan't to star running

 

Dosen't anyone have a fix for this problem. There is alot of water on the trails that I ride and this could be a real pain in the ***!

Do you replace the whole wire as an assembly. Can I see cracks or something in the wire or boot to know if it is bad or do I juct have to replace it and hope for the best?

 

This might sound dumb but what is the CDI box and what does it do? Is there a way to waterproof all of the electrical on my bike?
