I am so tired of people ripping on the 250ex. It's a great quad...low maint, low MONEY....If you have a budget and want the best bang for the buck get a 250ex.

 

i have 3 wheelers with auto clutches and i just bought a 400ex on saturday and can already to a manual clutch. just takes a little practice(very easy).

i know stock a 400ex is very nice and u proply wouldnt feel u needed any more power out of it until u get older.

im am 15 and my friend(14) bought a trailblazer 250 and didnt have it a month before he wanted something faster. i would definatly recomend the 400ex.

about the mud question i dont know but i would think it would be alright.

about the price i would say get a used one. i got mine for 3250 and it seriously looks drand new plus has 500 in after market parts. u cant beat it.

 

You can't beat it unless you want a NEW bike. I bought used before and told myself I would never by used again....If you want a brand new 400ex, you are gonna PAY for it. Maybe the price will go down now cause of the 450r. I just have a hard time justifying 5 grand or more for a quad unless it's a 4x4 utility.

 

I bought my 14 year old daughter a 250EX thinking this would last her for a couple years. Wrong she out grew the EX in seven riding days. So I bought her a newer blaster because all of her riding buddies have them. The Blaster is pretty good for power and hill climbing but stock won't beat any land speed records. I personally like my TRX250R, The bike is worth more now than when it was new. Its size engine to weight ratio is perfect. I did some porting added a TRX11 Pipe and new carb and this bike is great for speed, hill climbing ect. Four strokes are coming a long way but they still have a hard time with 250R's

 

so stick with honda?

 

Until the 450R came along!

 

Definately stick with Honda, you can't beat their reliability.
The 400EX is a fantactic quad.
Change the oil and filter, clean the air filter, gas it and go! It'll run forever.

 

It's easy to make a larger quad (400ex) slower to learn on (throttle stop adjustment) but it's pretty hard to make a small quad bigger. It's a real azzache to sell yours and buy a bigger one after maybe a year.

When we ride all the kids jump off their Blasters and on our Quadracer & Raptor the minute we parents stop riding. They are age 9 and 12. I'm struggling to keep them on Blasters a couple more years. Granted they've been riding from the cradle but I see that a lot, kids wanting to step up.

 

These guys pretty well covered it.......my 2 cents goes toward the 400EX

 

What about a Warrior? I know I know I own one but there great! it's right in the middle of the 300ex and 400ex and plus Its a YAMAHA! Just an idea! A manual clutch ain't hard at all if you have someone teach ya and just ride it the best you can and you'll have it down in no time!
