i hate to disturb ur goal, but i honestly think u would be a lot happier with a z400 or kfx or dvx. they are the same engine size, but they are more up todate, faster, and have reverse.
however, back to ur question- huge difference.

the warrior-- pros- good beginner quad, decent handleing, reverse, close gears
cons- slow, poor stiff suspension, burn urself everytime u put it in reverse

the 400ex pros- faster er, very predictable for turning and jumping and wheelieing, great, no excellent handling and suspension for what it is, big,
cons-no reverse, looses to the new 400's, z/kfx/dvx, outdated

400 is a good choice, ull be very happy, but before u totallydecied, take a gander at the new 400's, same handling and suspension, jsut more up todate

i thought about the Z, KFX, and DVX... i did some research and noticed that some where having starter problems, of course the 03 frame breaks, and even that something was wrong with the swingarms... i also didnt see payin $400 for 2mph and reverse... i bought my EX and was more then happy with my decision... its a pretty big diffrence in the warrior and EX... the 400 handles better, has more power, a smoother ride... better for jumping, very comforatble, and awesome at wheelies... the 400s aftermarket is also larger and is a better canidate for a future racer... hope that helped...
