Help setting time in honda 110 (1980)

Default Help setting time in honda 110 (1980)

Hello does anyone know how to set the time in a honda 110 four stroke I lined up the timeing marks but as the flywheel advances the mark is offset by one link after a comlete rotation is there a trick to it?

There is no trick. What marks are you using? Do you mean after you set the timing and turn the engine over a few times it goes out of time?

No the piston is in diffrent places each revolution when the mark four TDC then four BDC i need to know what revolution is the correct time to set bike in time. I am using to gold colored link on the timing chain and the mark on the flywheel am i missing something?

Yes I think you are. I've never heard of anyone using a particular link on the chain for timing. Use only the T mark on the flywheel (not to be confused with the F mark). The T mark on the flywheel corresponds to engine TDC, verify this using a pick or small screwdriver in the spark plug hole. At this point the small circle on the cam sprocket should line up with the notch machined in the top of the cavity for the cam and sprocket.

Thank you dzzy so much Im kinda new to this stuff just one more question if you would please? I set the time like you told me and its still just spining checked the spark its got spark and does turn a little bit but when it does it ethier backfires or shoots flame from the intake? It is doing more then it was but seems that it is still outta time I do not have a compression checker but it has new piston rings and new lapped valves so im guessing it has compression from the feel from the intake it sucks my hand down pretty hard. I am lining up the T Mark on the flywheel with the notch in the spindles housing the notch looks like a V Also the F Mark is really close to the T mark am I doing somthing wrong? you input is VERY VERY VERY MUCH appreciated thank you in advance.

It sounds like you're doing it right. Use only the T mark for cam chain timing. When you set the points opening, you use the F mark.

Default Help setting time in honda 110 (1980)

Ok I set the tappets with a feeler guage and I have lapped each valve for about 45mins went out and got a compression checker its running 120psi does it sound like it should start now because its turning over and then dying thank you agian you guys really rock and know your stuff!
