Default MOTOR IS TICKING ?????

I just had a HOt cam Stage 1 installed on my motor. I check the valve clearance and it seems to be right on spec. My motor has a loud ticking sound come out of on the right side as you are sitting on it. COuld my valves be to tight?? or the cam chain?? I seen some blue smoke come out after warming the bike up, and the sound usually comes after the bike is warmed up.

Besides the noise the bike has great power. I am impressed.

my friends bike is doing this too. it has always ticked a bit more than mine and we are wondering if it is his rod.

we noticed that the bike didn't tick as much if we tightened up the valves more.

oh, there are definately a cam and rockers in there!! it is possible that the cam chain is stretched or the timing chain tensioner could be damaged.

Inspect your cam, make sure it doesnt have wear marks on it from running low on oil ect, make sure its timed right. May not be coming from your head. Does it get louder as you get faster. May be bad main bearings, or a few other things.

My 440 started doing the same thing so I tore it apart and discovered that my cam lobs scratched up. Did you check your timing?

It is a new cam. When I had it installed I had the cam tension check also. The motor was just redone last year and only have about 60-80 hours on it.

I think I will try and put a little more tightness to the valves and see what happens.
