Default Clutch Problems

The clutch on my recon has been slipping a fair amount lately and adjusting it doesn't seem to help much. I need to know if it would be just the plates or the centrifugal clutch that needs to be replaced. Is there anyway to tell or have a good idea without tearing into the engine? It slips on hard acceleration in about the first 3 gears and and slipping on the low end (just after shifting). Any help would be great.

Odds are it's the plates. If the centrifugal clutch were slipping, you'd probably notice it on take off.

Thanks dzzy, looks like I will have to go and get some prices on a new centrifugal clutch because it is slipping on take off under heavy trottle for about the first 3 gears. Since it is apart and for the price of plates I might as well put them in too and lastly a for sale sign .

Anyone else have some thoughts or opinions on what needs to be replaced.

What kind of oil are you using? Is it specific for wet clutches? If its auto oil, thatll cause slipage.
are you adjusting the clutch per the service manual? Is the oil level correct?

Its not an oil related problem, I have used Honda GN-4 in it since it was new and change it often. The oil level is good and adjusting it is just a quick tempory fix. I was talking tomy firend that owns a parts and service shop and were just going to order the plates for now and hope for the best. Hopefully it isn't the cent. clutch gone.
