Is the 250R A thing of the past

This is not to start a flame but to instead pose the question. "Is the 250R a thing of the past?" I recently purchased one 2 weeks ago, to satisfy my everlasting quest for an R. What I got was a mint condition 86 model with an aftermarket PSI exhaust system. Having been spoiled by my YFZ and KFX 4 strokes, I found the 250R to be much harder to ride both in the woods and on the MX track, in fact the suspension (MX Track) was awful compared to my YFZ and even the KFX. I know that i am comparing the latest and to some the greatest to an 86 250R, but this is just my opinion.
I just came back from the VA Beach race, and went to the birch creek nationals about a month ago and it was really sad to see that the 250R's were demolished by the newer age 4 strokes.
What are your thoughts? And no my R is not for sale, I plan to keep it as it is something that I've always wanted.

Its a thing of the past alright, but it will never be forgotten. As long as 2-Strokes are around they will still be out too. Of course you can't compare almost 20 year od technology to the yfz. However for what the R is, it dose pretty good for itself.

Very good points from each of you. I do plan on doing some mods to my 250R such as port it and perhaps a 330 kit or something. It is amazing what a difference a year makes.
