Default spark plug check*

i always here people talking about checking there jetting by looking at the spark plug. well how exactly do u do this and what color do u look for. do u have to give it gas first. thanks. also my quad is hard to start does that indicate lean or rich jetting thanks.

You can do what is called a plug chop. You hold it WOT for 10 seconds in 3rd gear usually. Slow down a little bit and after about 8 seconds of putting around do the same thing again except this time pull in the clutch after 10 seconds and hit the kill switch. Come to a stop and check the plug. The middle of the plug is what you look at. If its black its to rich. If its a whitish color then its to lean. If its paper bag brown or tanish color its right on. Your quad might be hard to start if its lean OR rich. If the pilot jet is lean (not the main) it could be starving for gas, and if its to rich it might be flooding it. It could go either way.

when im doing WOT in 3rd gear its going to be constantly riding on the rev limiter, is this ok.

also, after i hit the kill switch do i keep the gas held down?
