Looking into putting a used CRF450 on the road!
#1
Hey guys
Thought someone out there might be able to help me out, I want to put a used CRF450 on the road! I live in Ontario, Does anyone one what kinda things I have to worry about as far as the DMV goes? My friend says you have to make sure the ownership has plated on it, and I would probably have to get it safteied after I put an on road kit on it. I wish honda just mad an on road, off road 400 liquid bike.
But they don't
So help me out

I'm thinking about the same thing but, here in the states after January 30, 2004 many states clamped down on this.
Also you may be attracted to the CRF 450 because you are seeing them as the dominant bike in supermoto, but after really looking into this the crf 450 may not be the best bike for actual road use because of several things.
The short piston skirt requires more rebuilds when you have the engine going at hiway speeds for extened periods of time.
Unless you really gear it up high, if you maintain a constant hi prm rev, like you do on the hiway, you will get a lot of oil blow-by from the breather causing you to have to regularly have to fill it up.
Also the crf 450 has no lighting coil so you will need to modify or buy a new one.
Rumor has it that a crf 450x (off orad version) will be coming out for 05. This will be better suited for a dual sport conversion.
I am amazed that with the supermoto crazy going on not motorcycle company has offered an actual real street legal supermoto. KTM is pretty close.
With no available riding anywhere near where I live, I have been giving this some thought.

So you wouldn't reccommed putting one on the road fer the average joe eh? I want a liquid bike, I know some people seem to think the CRF would be a lttile more reliable because of it being liquid. I was very interested in the XR400, but it isn't liquid, I know it is a rock sold engine, but the CRF if just plan nuts, I am going to look into the CRF some more!
Any more info guys
what would you go with
I want to stick with HONDA
so keep that in mind
Thanks
