Canoe Rack

Default Canoe Rack

Hello folks...i have the materials to make a canoe rack for my rancher....got an idea how to go about it...and i have a welder to do that part of it...just wondering if you have any suggestions how to do it...it will be my first time doing it so any advice would be appreciated...any pictures?...i will be usng 3/4 inch angle iron...

I have never done it myself, but if you go to Kimpex's website they have pictures of the ones they sell. You might get some idea about where they connect to on the Quad for support. I believe they also give the measurements as well.

Perfect...i'll have a look there...anyone got any comments on using 3/4 angle iron?..cause i think they normally use tubing...also, when i said i have a welder to do it, i meant that i have someone who welds...not the actual welding equipment...

wow...i can't find the kimpex website....i'm usually pretty good at this stuff!!...oh well...i'll find it eventually....

Rather then using angle, which weighs a ton, try using small exhaust tubing. Go to your locak muffler shop with some measurements and they can custom bent the pipes for you and then all you have to do is weld the mount points. I plan on doing that for a bumper for a P700 and getting it powder coated.

Check out eBay, they have a sweat canoe rack called( big rack ATV.) You will need to search Atv canoe carrier

How ever you decide to built it the one thing you want is to make it as low as possible for stability .
Do not make it like this one in the pic below.
You want the top of your head inside the boat yet you can still see forward. A large space between the top of your head and the boat is pointless and just raises the center of gravity on your ATV making it more tippy.
