YFZ450 and 450R Top Speed?

How was the new honda not built for the racetrack? Are you saying honda made a new quad just for the heck of it and isn't trying to compete with all the other new 4stroke sport quads out there? Also if you look at both motors you will be able to tell how the yamaha can be made faster. Stock for stock they might be pretty equal as you say they are but once you start modding them thats where the yamaha pulls away. I really don't see why everyone is so worried about top speeds because in a drag race you never get to top speed and about any other type of race you don't either. They are all about the same stock. What you should be worried about is how much more HP will I be able to make out of this quad if I want to go faster. Trust me...you aren't going to beat to many people with a stock bike...goin' fast cost money my friends.

Ok,my turn..What do you mean you will not hit top speed drag racing, maybe not in those short 200-400' races. When we drag race we go from a stop to top speed and when they are both topped out whoever is ahead wins. That is a sure fire way to determine who has the faster quad.My 450R can do around 85mph and I have heard on so many foruns that a 450R can't beat a YFZ450 or a banshee mod for mod but I can tell you that is not true because I have beat a few banshees and as soon as someone gets a YFZ450 around here I will try them to see if I can disproove that myth.I am not bashing on yamaha because I know they are great quads too.Buy the way we are on ashphalt during the drags so traction is not an issue.

Make sure you take a small bag with you when you race that piped, jetted YFZ because your going to have to pick your eye ***** up when they pop out of your head after you see what happens!
BTW, news flash , your 450R is not going 85 mph,,

i stopped by duncan racing the other day and told them that i wanted to mod one of my two bikes my trx450r or my yfz450 and they told me they had a 470 kit for the yfz available now but they suggested i wait for their 470 kit for the trx, they are still in the testing phase and should be available next month and they said their trx motor puts out alot more hp than the yfz ever will.

when i said that the 450r wasn't made for the racetrack, i meant that it's not racetrack specific. most racers want a quad with lots of low end torque, quick acceleration, a hard hitting mid-range burst of power, low center of gravity, and for the quad to stay flat in corners. the honda has great acceleration, no sudden bursts of power, a higher center of gravity with a light front end, and it tips a little in the corners. the honda will do great on the track once the mods come up to par with the yamaha. the honda was released like 6 months after the yamaha, so it will be a while til u can compare the yamaha and honda mod for mod.

Well in that case none of the quads are ready for the race track. You have to chage a lot of stuff on the yamaha too if you are gunna change all that stuff on the honda. Might as well get a predator all u need to do is put some smaller tires on and cut the plastic if you want. It comes with the strongest swingarm and axel. Has great suspionson. It has been out the longest compared to a honda and yamaha and I bet there are more mods for both of those machines already.

that's true, but as far as race track ready, right from the dealership goes, the yamaha is the closest to it. i have a feeling that even if the quads from the dealer were built so that there were no possible improvements for performance, people would still try to find a way to modify them. nothing will ever be fast enough, because "fast" is 1 mph over ur top speed. i wonder if ne body will ever make a diesel quad, and instead of nitrous, u would jus use propane. nobody would be able to complain about a lack of torque with deisel. just a thought.

I was wondering why you say the yfz is the best race ready bike when the predator comes with stronger parts that all the pros change right away on the yamahas and hondas and put on the same stuff that comes stock on the pred.
