Hello all am new to forums.New 04 rubicon less than 40 miles when letting off from full throttle acceleration I get a noticable backfire. Any ideas? Thank You James

 

maybe check and see if the choke is all the way in.
another thing is altitude.
it could be running lean.
or rich but if it was rich you would smell gas.
did you buy it in your town or somewere else thats at a higher or lower altitude.
if so maybe its set up for that area.

its normal, mine has done it from day one...

 

Mine does it when decelerating down a hill, but not so bad it's annoying. I think this is normal.

 

It's running too rich. Talk to your dealer about installing a smaller jet or adjusting the carbuetotor. Maybe once in great while while decelerating down a hill ours might backfire, but it very seldom does, very seldom. Backfiring is not normal.

 

How bad is the backfire? You are sure you aren't just mistaking it for normal engine compression?
