Well I met one of the worlds most ignorant women at work today. She was tellin me about the kids on her block that ride their quads on a paved road with no helmet. I said "There parents let them ride with no helmets?" in a bewildered tone of voice. She said "As long as they are having fun they are not doing anything wrong." That was one of the few times I have ever just wanted to slap a woman (don't get offended I never would though). What do you guys think?

 

i think she is a pretty stupid person.I am 15 and i aways wear a helment.I do get alot of crap about it from some people that dont even ride and a bunch of the peolpe that i ride with dont wear em but they dont diss me cause of it because they know why i wear one.as for riding an pavement,is that all they ride on?i ride on pavement some to get to the trails down the road but i live out in the sticks and my closest neighbor dont care.if thats all they ever ride then theyre wasting money on the quad by not even not getting to have fun with it

 

dunno i own a ds 2 years and im 18
when i going for short rides like ride 1-2 min to close friend in the neibour im not wearing helmet too...
but i ride slow and carefully...
other situation i always ride with helmet and lots of riding gear...

 

That's bad enough, and then you have the ADULTS that do not wear helmets either, gloves, boots etc.....go figure

 

Adults are responsible for they're own actions though. Kids learn by what their parents teach them. How stupid! We're doing the safety course and everything with my daughter. She's 13. She's got all her gear and ready to learn!

 

Your right kids learn directly from their parents. I got in a fight one time while riding with some guy on a Banshee over this type of thing. He was racin around like an @$$HOLE with no helmet or anything and wanted to race me for money. I went off on him saying how he's a @$$ because if he kills himself they will shut down the whole riding area and I'm sure you can imagine what happened after that. It only takes a few to ruin it for us all.

 

shoot i always take like short rides down my road which are about 10-15min per ride and i never wore a helmet,but that all changes now because the po po rides up and down this road.But you always need to wear them, the one time you wreck without your helmet you might not get a second chance of riding.

 

You're riding a machine that can kill you while ridng at 5 miles per hour WITH full riding gear. To not wear a helmet, no matter what you're doing on the quad, is down right STUPID.
I see this all the time in the dunes. Peolple think it's safe to ride in sand without a helmet. You quad will crush your head like an egg in a flip.
I think helmets should be mandatory nation wide and you should be ticketed if you're not wearing one. Why give the anti-quad tree huggers one more thing to grab hold of to try to ban our sport?

 

You can be as careful as you like .. it's the other idiots that are going to cause you pain .. I'm guilty of not wearing for a little put around the house, but if I'm on a trail, then I get the brain bucket on pronto ...

 

Awhile back, I once wrecked coming around the corner in bout 5th gear powersliding and hit a rut the fourwheeler started to wobble I had no choice to let go or I woulda messed up my quad also, I was more worried about the quad than me..I'm not the richests person in the world. But the point of this message is Tie your straps. because soon as I hit the ground my helmet flew off and I got put underneath all four's and my head hit the skid plate. Later on went to the doctor I had one broken rib and a dislocated shoulder, and a minor concussion..
