Hey guys
I just bought a 01 Rancher 3 weeks ago and the throttle doesn't respond nothing like it does on my Recon. I asumed it was normal untill this weekend when I test drove a friends Rancher and it didn't have that problem. anyone else have this problem or know what to do to fix it
thanks in advance

One suggestion is to adjust out the amount of slack in the throttle cable. The throttle adjuster is located on your handle bars. There were several posts a while back concerning this.

It made a difference on my Rancher & Recon.

Good luck

Since both of you have a rancher and a recon, how do they compare in top speed. I've been curious about this ever since I first saw a rancher. It seems like the longitudaly mounted engine makes a big difference compared to other 250 utility shaft drive machines.

hard to say untill i get this throttle thing worked out. But we draged a 450 and a recon both stock except the 450 had 26" vamps and the recon won for what its worth

My Rancher has a top speed off 50 MPH, don't know about the Recon. Its no slouch, the Recon from what I have heard tops out around 46 MPH.

I'm having the same problem with my 00' Rancher. It was running great when I bought it, but when I took it for service and got it back it just seems to be a little more sluggish. One thing I did notice is that since I got it back the air filter was covered in the foam oil. It had no foam oil on it during the break in period.

Is this a common practice? and would it cause a decrease in performance now by decreasing the amount of air flowing through the filter due to the fact the air is now slightly more restricted due to the foam oil?

P.S. An adjustment to the idle and the throttle play helped a little.

adjust your throttle slack, they prob. kicked it down at the dealership.. its located on your handalbars, the screw that comes outo f the thumb throttle thing. lol.
my rancher goes 53... not sure about a recon but they go pretty damn fast for a 250

My 4x2 would run 52mph before I took it in. 48mph after I got it back and 43mph after I put 26" mudrunners on the rear.

Rancherluvr4x4---what did the fuel filter do for your quad....performance gains, or wass it just preventitive maintenence?

Not sure how a 350 vs 250 compare but a Recon blows away a 450es in a drag. 450 will nudge it out on top end.
