KFX is better in basically everything. speed, handling and all the rest

 

the 05' 400ex has reverse and in my opinion looks alot better then the kfx and liquid cooling isnt always good, theres alot more that can go wrong, also the power band on the 400ex is alot nicer then on the kfx and then 400ex is well balanced in the air where on the kfx the front end is a little light so it tends to drop and one more thing is that for trails the kfx might feel nicer becuase its up higher but then its alot tipier.

 

400ex my bro has 1 pick the front end up in 4th like is nothing but its a b!tch if you die on a hill

 

liquid cooling is unnecessary, thats why the 400ex doesnt have it. you dont see 440ex's overheating all of the time do you? Liquid cooling is just more things to go wrong, and more maintenance.

If you can pick up an 04 for a good price, well under msrp, go for it. If you are going to have to pay retail, then think about the kawisukicats.

simple mods lik a rev box and 22 inch rear tires will speed it up alot

 

A Z400 is by far a better quad then a 400ex
