Ok were always talking bout pipes here, which to get for more power. Well basically which ever way you go, the complete pipe combo, silencer and head pipe is going to cost 500-600 dollars right? Well all that money on a pipe is only going to get you like 4 or 5 more Ponies right. ( I was looking at a 1000 page catalog at Dealership and a E bro pipe that was 500 dollars only gave 4 hp)
Well it seams to me if your going for the most bang for your buck, spend that 500 or 600 bucks on a big bore, cam, high comp piston, and all that, and get like 15 or more horses out of it for the same amount of money. Right?
OR am I totally wrong, what do you think?

Well, I just upgraded my exhaust system and jetted the carb (with Uni Airfilter) and all I can say is wow. It really woke the bike up.

Also something to consider is if you do the big bore kit and cam...etc...you will need a high flow exhaust to maximize the performance from those mods.

I say, go with exhaust and jet the carbs first.

VWVR6,

What kind of header do you have? How much did it all cost?

I am currently running the stock header pipe. I am toying with buying the Power Bomb header pipe down the road.

BTW where is Townsville? Know any good places to ride around there. I have 6 of my buddies with 400EX's (including myself) looking for other places to ride in PA within an hour or so radius of Pittsburgh.

I agree with VWVR6, you will want the high flow exhaust to compliment the internal engine mods. I did not spend 400-500 on exhaust since I went with the White Bros. E-Series, muffler only. These can be had for around 200. It actually seemed to produce more top end than a complete Big Gun system. I now have a 440 cylinder and mid range cam, and the bike runs great.

Townville is a hour south of Erie, in crawford county in between meadville and titusville. Townville is a paved road with some houses on it :-). Really small! I ride right down the main street all the time! I have trials right in my back yard and across the road from my house! they are old logging roads. Really fun to ride. The best place to ride around here is Park Woods. It is a Top secret area. There is a mx track and millions of trails. you can ride all day and not cover them all. The best part about it is me and my friends are the only people that ride there.

Yeah I totally agree with you about that you should get the pipe to go along with the mods to maximize the power. But still for the same amount of money, engine mods will get more money than pipe. Later

I've heard from lots of people its the best... its $280 at dennis kirk and I know dennis kirk is way higher than most places. I'm gonna call around to day and see what I can find......I dunno if they make it for the 400ex but if they do you might wanna check it out. later
