The only thing I'd change on the Recon is the drum brakes. I don't like to work on drums when disc are so darn easy. The Recon is an agile quad that goes over and under objects with ease. It is a fun little quad. I have a couple pictures of my 2001 Recon on my pic page if you care to look.

Your OTD price seems pretty good. I would price around just to be safe and get the best deal possible. Remember the 2005's are coming.

I will probably get the recon, but am looking at the sport 250 also. What is the difference between the sportrax 250ex, and the trx 250 ex? All I can tell is maybe the latter is the 2005 model???? Same price. Same bike as much as I can tell. Thank you. I do use my old 4 wheeler around the farm, so the recon is probably for me, I wonder how much the trailer hitch costs?

Thanks, enjoy reading this message board. Nice picture Coyote Chaser!

They are both the same machine. EX's are the sport models. I'd have the dealer throw a hitch in with the deal. They don't cost that much so they probably would throw one in. You might be able to mount the Recon's hitch on the 250ex for light work. Shadetreepowersports has hitches for quads. $22.99 for the Recon and $24.99 for the 250ex. Rockymountainatv probably also sells hitches. I think they sell CMP hitches.

Everybody I know loves their Recons and won't sell them. Even if they buy bigger ATVs later, they kept their Recons.

recons...what can i say. they are so much fun stock, but the mods i have help as well on the fun factor. i have a '97 recon with a t-4 pro circuit pipe, a K&N air filter, open air box, and a dyno jet kit. all of this helps with the performance A LOT. gotta love recons...they are cheap, fun, and an all around good decision
